Questions about billing
- What exactly counts as a job?
- One row returned in a response body. A request returning 50 jobs counts 50; a request returning nothing counts zero. You are never charged for a search that finds no matches.
- Why meter jobs instead of requests?
- Because a request is a proxy for nothing. One can return a single job or two hundred. Metering rows means a narrow, well-filtered query costs less than a broad one — which is also the behaviour we want to encourage.
- Does fetching the same job twice count twice?
- Yes. The meter counts rows delivered, so paging back through results you have already seen does cost again. Use cursor pagination and the updated-since filter to sync incrementally rather than re-scanning.
- What happens when I use up my included jobs?
- Requests return 402 until the next billing month or until you upgrade. Nothing is served past your allowance, so a plan can never cost more than its listed price. We email you at 80% and again at 100%, so it is never a surprise. Upgrades take effect immediately and are prorated.
- Do the rate limits cost me anything?
- No. The per-minute limit exists to keep the API healthy for everyone; it is not a billing meter. You can be rate limited without spending a single job from your quota.
- Can I change plan later?
- Any time, in both directions. Upgrades are prorated immediately. Downgrades take effect at the end of the current billing period, so you keep what you have already paid for.
